Final point scores were Braunstone A 332, Hinckley 282, Coalville 264, Halesowen 235, Witney 219, Loughborough 192, Swadlincote 128, Braunstone B 128.

Halesowen Swimmers travelled to Leicester, on 16th September, for the Braunstone Sports Trophy, a traditional curtain raiser to the upcoming season. Club captain Josh Bradley got the team off to a fine start winning the 100m individual medley. Unfortunately from that moment on event winners were sadly few and far between; Rob Jennings won the 15 and under boys 100m butterfly, Emma Bird won the ladies 100m backstroke and Jack Simpson won the mens 100m freestyle. The bright spot of a tough evening was the dominant display of the men’s relay team who comfortably won both the medley relay and 6-man freestyle relay events. The medley team was Mark Laing, Ryan Larkin, James Cuthbert and Jack Simpson who were then joined by Josh Bradley and Rob Jennings in the freestyle relay. Jack Simpson, Ryan Larkin, Rob Jennings and James Cuthbert had proudly represented Halesowen in the 16 and under boys freestyle relay in July at the 2017 British Summer Swimming Championships but their strong performance at this gala could not mask the disappointment of the club coming 4th at an event which Halesowen have won for the past 7 years.
