Final point scores were Halesowen 238, Bromsgrove 236, Perry Beeches & SSS 207, Tamworth 153.
Shaking off the disappointment of failing to be promoted in the Junior League, Halesowen swimmers travelled to the season curtain closer in Tamworth for the final round of the Mercian League. With many taking early holidays the squad was stretched to almost breaking point with many swimmers being asked to compete in an older age group and club legends donning their swimming gear once more to help out in the open age group. In a tightly fought gala it all came down to the final relay, which Halesowen duly won to gain victory by the smallest of margins. There were too many winners to acknowledge on the evening but special mentions must go to the returning legends who helped in the open age group; Natasha and Georgia Bird, Zach Collins, Julie Everton and Stu Jones and also to double individual event winners Grace Guy, Sahana Jain, Holly Simpson and William Walker. The hardest working swimmers on the evening were, without question, the 12 year old girls team of Grace Guy (who is only 10!), Audrey Hackett, Aahana Jain and Sahana Jain who, due to the decimated squad, had to swim all of the 14 year old girls races as well as their own age group. The gala showed that, in the face of adversity, Halesowen can pull together, swim hard and produce a fantastic team performance.
