Final point scores were Ripley Rascals 214, Northgate 205, Pershore 184, Halesowen 158, City of Coventry B 149, Coalville 125.

Halesowen swimmers travelled to Cheslyn Hay to compete in round 1 of the National Arena League. Having been demoted to division 2 Halesowen were hoping for a strong performance in the opening gala to show early form in the battle to get back into division 1. In a gala featuring some of the top contenders for promotion Halesowen found the going tough and finished 4th on the evening. There were, however, lots of highlights with Halesowen winning only 1 fewer race than the victorious team from Ripley. Individual event winners were Olivia Jay in the ladies’ 100m Breaststroke, Adam Ryan in the 13 and under boys 100m backstroke, Jacob Bailey in the 15 and under boys 100m backstroke, Ryan Larkin in the men’s 100m backstroke, Jack Simpson in the men’s 100m freestyle and Josh Bradley in the men’s 100m butterfly. The ladies’ and men’s relay teams were, as always, a joy to watch and dominant on the evening winning every relay event. The ladies medley team were Emma Bird, Amber Robbins, Georgia Lees and Katie Morrice - they were joined by Olivia Jay and Eliza Bradley to win the freestyle relay. The men’s medley relay team were Jack Simpson, Ryan Larkin, Mark Laing and Zachariah Collins – they were joined by Josh Bradley and Jacob Bailey to win the freestyle relay. A sobering event, for sure, but positives to build on for round two in early November.
