Halesowen swimmers travelled to Redditch to compete in round 2 of the National Arena League knowing only a win would be good enough to get them into the division 2 final to fight for promotion to the division 1. With 6 races left on the evening Halesowen were in 2nd place – the relay teams then delivered, as they so often do, to give Halesowen an incredibly narrow 2-point victory. Individual event winners were Adam Ryan in the 13 and under 100m backstroke, Ryan Larkin in the men’s 100m breaststroke and Katie Morrice in the ladies 100m freestyle. Double individual event winners were Jack Simpson in the men’s 100m freestyle & 100m butterfly whilst Eleanor Bainbridge won the ladies 200m individual medley and 15 and under 100m butterfly. Three of Halesowen’s relay teams were dominant on the evening winning each of their freestyle and medley relays, the teams were; the 13 and under boys team of Adam Ryan, William Walker, Jacob Smith and Caleb Darby; the men’s team of Mark Laing, Jack Simpson, James Cuthbert, Zachariah Collins, Ryan Larkin and Jacob Bailey and finally the ladies team of Emma Bird, Amber Robbins, Georgia Lees, Katie Morrice, Jessica Jones and Eleanor Bainbridge. With the division 2 final just around the corner in the early December this result gives momentum to Halesowen swimmers striving for promotion.
